THE MIGHTY Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Curtis (A book review by Sophia Taylor)
“We are family on a journey to a place called wonderful.” This is a book about the Malone family, but especially about twelve-year old Deza Malone. She is the smartest student in her class and is told by many teachers that she has a bright future ahead of her. She also has a brother named Jimmie. He is not and angel but does sing like one.
Miss Malone has been thru a lot. The Great Depression has hit Gary and their father must leave to find a job. This would be even harder since Mr. Malone was a African American. When the mother decides that something must be wrong because they haven't received any letters from him, they decide to go look for Mr. Malone. They go through several twists and turns during their journey, but it proves how she really is the Mighty Miss Malone.
