HILLTOP HOLDS FAMILY CAMPOUT
by Elizabeth Ruiz
The Hilltop Family Campout took place on Friday, May 8th at Hilltop Drive Elementary School even though it was raining that day. Many people attended the campout, but not as many as usual.
A variety of events were held at the campout. There was food, face painting, and a movie. The face painter was a clown and she had a very long line of people. The movie that was shown was "E.T." and it was just out of this world. There were different kind of food like hot dogs, chips, muffins, and drink. One of the volunteers, Lorena Sotelo, was the cook.
"I enjoy helping out at the school. I can help, so I'm helping," said Lorena. "I love serving people and putting a smile on a child's face."
There were a few families who camped overnight.
"I slept well. We had a tent and plenty of blankets. I slept with my mom, dad, and cousin. I ate a burrito. The campout had coffee, hot chocolate, bread, burritos, and fruit," said Linda Avila, a 6th grade Hilltop student.
Another 6th grade student who attended the campout was Isaac Valdez .
"I slept pretty well in an inflatable bed with my family," he said.
