HILLTOP'S SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END
Story by Jocelyn Flores and Brandon Covarrubias
On a cold, rainy day, the Hilltop Elementary soccer team was defeated by the Vista Square soccer team. Vista Square shot past Hilltop by the score of 2-0 in a playoff game played at Vista Square earlier this month. The loss eliminated Hilltop from the playoffs.
"We were excited at the beginning of the game and a bit sad at the end," said Mr. Schweitzer, the team's coach. "It was a close game as both teams were evenly matched. We had some good shots that didn't do it and we had opportunities where we didn't score a goal," he added.
Even though Hilltop lost the game, Mr. Schweitzer said that Mia Candido, Brandon Covarrubias, and Oscar Valdivia played really well and he is proud of his team.
The team finished with an overall record of six victories and six defeats. The soccer team was made up of the following players:
Oscar Valdivia, Logan Earle, Chelsea Bahena, Brandon Covarrubias, Rayo Sanchez, Sebastian Figueroa, Michelle Ramirez, Alina Castro, Sam Ibarra, Marco Lucero, Ben Peraza, Grace Nelson, Eli Colmenero, Melanie Cerna, Anthony Markarian, Antonio Plata, Victoria Cortez, Jacob Spears, Jarod Juarez, Axel Coronel, Yolenni Macias, Elias Padilla, Mia Candido, Gerardo Gomez, and Anthony Ramos.
