Love of the Game Leads to Hilltop Lacrosse Team
By Sophia Taylor
"I fell in love with the game of lacrosse" said Mr. Alcos, the Hilltop lacrosse team captain and coach. You may wonder how someone could fall in love with a game?
Mr. Alcos’ love for the game began when he would help out at his son’s practices and games at Hilltop High School. This is also where he discovered that he wanted to be a coach in this sport.
A few months ago, he decided that he wanted to form a lacrosse team at Hilltop. Now there are about 13 or 14 students on the team
“It feels good and is very fun to play, said Ana Currier, who is one of the girls on the team.
Two other Hilltop students, Deaglan Guzman and Kevin Reyes-Vera, described the game as fun and energetic.
All of the players on team work really work hard during practice and all of them show outstanding sportsmanship and a love for the game.
They all love their coach too and describe him as the best coach ever. Games for the team start in January and the team practices every Tuesday and sometimes at recess. They also plan to attend a lacrosse camp If you would like to find out more information about the school’s lacrosse team, contact Mr. Alcos in room 704.
Also, if you happen to see a member of the lacrosse team walking around the school, give them a high five for all of their hard work.
