HILLTOP SET TO BE MODERNIZED
Story by Damien Sandoval and Andrew Vargus
Are you excited about having a newer looking and improved school? A renovation of the school is scheduled to take place during the summer break. The modernization project was made possible by a voter approved Proposition E bond fund. Last year, Castle Park, Lillian J. Rice, and Rosebank were renovated. This year, three other Chula Vista elementary schools including Hilltop will be modernized.
In preparation for the project, Hilltop teachers have been boxing up all of their classroom supplies. Mr. Ernie and Mr. Paul, our daytime and night custodians have been extremely busy putting these boxes onto pallets for storage during the modernization. Representatives from the district have been visiting and looking at our school in preparation for the renovation.
According the Mrs. Parker, Hilltop's principal, some of the things that will happen this summer include:
-Upgrading the classrooms with wireless technology. The improved wireless technology will make daily instruction smoother.
-Repairing and modernizing the classrooms to give Hilltop a more modern and pleasant environment
-Installing energy cost saving systems
-Making the school American Disability Act (ADA) friendly
"I am very excited about the modernization. I feel the new modern environment and technology improvements will have a positive impact on student learning," said Mrs. Parker.
Hilltop usually starts school in July, but this year classes won't resume until early September. For more information on the modernization of Hilltop, you can check out the Chula Vista Elementary School District website.
