HILLTOP BATTLES BACK BUT LOSES FINAL PLAYOFF GAME TO RICE IN OVERTIME
After an evenly matched scoreless first half, RICE scored the game's first goal about six minutes into the second half. They then started to dominate the game as they quickly scored two more unanswered goals and took the lead 3-0.
Hilltop never gave up and Hector Lua scored the team's first goal of the game with less than 8 minutes remaining. The Hilltop fans really came to life when Julian Marquez quickly followed with another goal making the score 3-2. Hector Lua then scored another goal making the score 3-3. With only about two minutes left in the game, he scored yet another goal and the Hilltop crowd went wild. With only about a minute to go, RICE tied up the game and sent it into overtime.
Rice scored quickly in the overtime period and then added another goal making the score 6-4. Hilltop wasn't finished however as Hector Lua scored a penalty shot goal with about 2 minutes left in overtime play. Time then ran out with HILLTOP suffering its first loss of the season. The team will still get to play in the District's consolation game on Friday, May 20th at the Olympic Training Center at 4 p.m.
