, SHINING STARS TAKE THE STAGE AT HILLTOP
Story by Breanna Ugalde
Talent flooded Hilltop Elementary with some smooth moves and some amazing brains working with robots and voices that made you sway. Hilltop Elementary had a school talent show recently with many performers singing, dancing, and blowing the audiences' minds.
Each performer dedicated their time after school to work really hard perfecting their talent. The talent show took place on March 3rd after school at 6:00 pm. Each person there had an amazing voice and they were all very excited to perform and execute their talents. The next day, the performers performed in the auditorium for the entire school.
''It's exciting, especially for people who haven't done big things in front of such a big crowd. It's something new to me and it conjures butterflies because you don’t usually get in front of the whole school to show and perform your talents. I felt nervous and exited at the same time,'' said Victoria Rossoff, a sixth grader who performed.
''I'm very excited. It's not like something you do every day. This is a chance for all of the contestants to show their talents. Last year, I was really nerves and was afraid I would forget my lines. But I came through, so I'm pretty sure that the same thing will happen this year,'' said Jocelynn Flores prior to her performance at the show.
Mrs.Leavitt and Ms.Condensa were the ones who organized and perfected the show and many great thanks go to them for their hard work and help the participants to reach their potential. Mrs. Leavitt and the students also helped decorate the auditorium and did an amazing job. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Triesh for helping out at almost every rehearsal, to Mr. Alcos for organizing students at auditions, and to Mr. Luna for generously letting us use his sound equipment.
Acts in the show included Viviana Flores, Nora Zarate, and Elizabeth Cortez singing "Country Roads", Gabriella Luna singing "Blackbird", Larhyssa Nicklin dancing to "Intoxicated", Jocelynn Flores singing "Snow Fairy", Yzabella Merino singing "1000 Years", Brandon Alverez singing "Happy", Eden Lopez singing "Grand Ole Flag", Breanna Ugalde singing "I believe", Gavrina Locke dancing to "Starships", Gisselle Brindle, Ava Dobbs, and Chelsea Sanchez singing "Xs and Os", Deneve Villegas and Natali Acosta created code to have robots play "Mary had a little Lamb" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", Isaiah Flores singing "Glad You Came", Francesca Aguirre singing "Here", Stephany Gonzales dancing ballet forlorico to "La Costilla", Aaliyah Parker accompanied by her father Michael Parker on piano singing "Take me to the King", Angel Flores singing "All of Me", Alyssa Mora singing "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying", Yolenni Macias and Victoria Rossoff singing "Hello", Erowyn Walsten and Maricela Gonzales doing gymnastics to "Bad Blood", Madison Lopez singing "Writings on the Wall", and Della Sandoval telling lots of jokes.
